Does this work on Intel Macs?
No. Velocaption runs on Apple Silicon Macs. Its local media and transcription pipeline uses Metal acceleration on M-series chips.
Is this a subscription?
No recurring billing. The 1-year license includes 12 months of updates, and the lifetime license includes future updates with one payment. If update access ends, the app version you already have keeps working on your Mac.
Is it truly offline? What about privacy?
For the main edit, yes. Whisper models run on your Mac, projects and exports live on your Mac, and you do not need to upload videos to a browser editor for captions or cleanup.
Can I edit the captions manually?
Yes. Generate a first pass, then correct words, review phrases, adjust timing, and customize styling in the built-in editor before export.
Is Velocaption only a caption generator?
No. Captions are the clearest entry point, but Velocaption also includes screen and webcam recording, scenes and takes, silence cleanup, transcript review, reusable styles, overlays, batch captions, noise removal, audio extraction, and portrait conversion.
What formats can I export?
